IJM Land and Amona Group break ground on Urban Park at Pantai Sentral Park, KL

IJM Land Bhd and Amona Group of Companies officially broke ground on the 0.86-acre Urban Park on Monday at Pantai Sentral Park, Kuala Lumpur.

The Urban Park is part of the 252-acre Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi Forest Reserve, which borders IJM Land’s Pantai Sentral Park township development. The 58-acre ongoing township project has a gross development value of RM8.3 billion.

To date, IJM Land has invested about RM1 million to develop the Urban Park, which is expected to be completed by end-2025. Once completed, the park will have walking trails, communal gathering spaces, shaded areas and 30 different plant species. In addition, the developer will also build a 300-metre bridge to connect the park to the future Pantai Dalam MRT3 station.

“The significant part of this Urban Park is that our Pantai Sentral Park development coexists with Taman Rimba Bukit Kerinchi Forest Reserve. We don’t just connect the park to the development but also to the future MRT station. We don’t just look at connectivity but also to reduce carbon footprint,” IJM Land chief executive officer Datuk Tony Ling Thou Lung told the press after the groundbreaking ceremony.

He added that the park will serve not just the residents of Pantai Sentral Park but also the residents in the Mid Valley, Bangsar, Pantai Dalam, Bangsar South, and Damansara areas.

“More than just the natural scenery and a green space, the Urban Park will be a meeting point for the community. We believe that great communities are not merely built with bricks and roads, but with shared spaces that invite people to come together and have activities with each other, creating bonds that last,” Ling noted.

The Urban Park is also part of IJM Land’s corporate social responsibility programmes through Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) Park Adoption Program. This programme aims to enhance and maintain green spaces in Klang Valley.

Meanwhile, Ling gave an update on IJM Land’s RM3.9 billion mixed-use development named Enlace @ Pantai Sentral Park. It comprises serviced apartments (Enlace Suites 1 and 2), offices (Enlace CO), retail (Enlace Shoppes) and a healthcare and wellness centre (Enlace Retreat).

The developer has soft-launched the RM430.4 million Enlace Suites 1 (438 units) in March this year and has achieved a take-up rate of 40%. Enlace Suites 2 is expected to be officially launched in June.

Monday’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Communications Minister and Lembah Pantai Member of Parliament Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, DBKL executive director (planning) Datuk Zulkurnain Hassan, Ling, and Amona Group CEO and director Datuk Che Hasnani Che Hassan.
