IJM Land Donates Life-Saving AED to Kuching South City Council (MBKS)

An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device has been installed at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) community hall today to strengthen emergency response and public safety.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the installation of the device is crucial in saving lives during emergencies, and asked the public what they would do if someone suddenly collapsed and their heart stopped.
“When these things happen, every second counts. That is why an AED is very important, and it can actually make a difference. It just takes a few seconds and minutes,” he said during the handover ceremony at the MBKS community hall here today.
The life-saving device was sponsored by RB Development Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of IJM Land Berhad.
“Every day there are at least 50,000 people coming up and down at this venue. So, this is a very important venue to install the AED,” Wee added.

He further stressed that AED alone cannot save lives but people can, and with proper training, the community will be able to use it effectively and respond quickly in emergencies.
“This is not just a sponsorship per se. It is a statement that you care deeply for the sake and well-being of our community.
“It is our responsibility to love, save and help each other, so let this spirit continue as we work together to make Kuching South not only a vibrant city, but a successful, loving and caring one,” he said.
